MEDIA RELEASE: OVER 3500 SCOTS CONSUMERS JOIN THE BIG ENERGY SWITCH IN FIRST 3 DAYS OF CAMPAIGN

3,600 consumers have joined the Big Energy Switch Scotland in the first 3 days of the campaign, a huge show of community support for the Scotland-wide people power campaign.

The Big Energy Switch is looking to recruit twenty thousands consumers to help unlock group discounted electrictiy and gas in Scotland.

The campaign will run for 4 weeks, with the collective power of the One Big Switch consumer movement growing every time another consumer joins.

To put the energy buying power of 3,600 consumers in context:

Just the registrants from the first 3 days of the campaign have a cumulative energy purchasing power of over £4.6 million annually.

3,600 Consumers in 72 hours means nearly one Scotish household is joining the campaign every minute.

This huge response should come as no surprise. Especially considering one in three Scottish households are currently suffering from fuel poverty.

Daivd Liston, Senior Campaigner at One Big Switch has responded to the huge community response; ”There’s no doubt about it. There’s a clear willingness from Scottish consumers to take the power into their own hands and work together to fight back against the energy affordability crisis gripping Scotland.

“Too often consumers have sat back and taken price rise after price rise on the chin with the idea there’s very little they could do about it. Now they can. For the chance to unlock group discounted energy, I would encourage all Scottish households to join together in the Big Energy Switch at onebigswitch.co.uk today.”

One Big Switch ran the Big Energy Switch in Scotland in 2015 where 34,000 consumers took part. That campaign unlocked group discounted electricity for thousands for Scots.

Joining the Big Energy Switch is entirely cost and obligation free. Consumers who wish to sign up can visit www.onebigswitch.co.uk.  Registration closes at midnight 25 March 2016. Case Study families who have joined the campaign can be provided.
